A Swedish autosexing breed developed by Martin Silverudd in 1955 (hence the name). They were bred from old strains of Leghorns and lay large white eggs. As chicks the females are barred while the males lack barring.

There are two varieties: Silver and Gold. Females have a sort of Mille Fleur pattern, while males are pale with some color in hackles and saddle.
